Weekly Review: May 5th, 2014

May 5th ~ May 9th

I am linking up with Old School Speech for her "Week in Review" linky and Doodle Bugs "Five for Friday!" linky. This week was filled with Mother's Day activities, A LOT of data collection and some dragon activities!

~A few language groups worked on multiple meaning words this week. We used the book Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin. {To buy book on Amazon, click HERE.} I whipped out my Dragons Love Tacos: A Speech & Language Book Companion! The students loved it! We talked about the words, "break/brake." There are brain breaks, coffee breaks, brakes on your car, taco breaks... the list is endless!  It was a good time :)  Check it out at my School SLP TpT store if you are interested! Be prepared for more weekly reviews with activities from this book companion because it's a BIG hit in my speech room!

~For my articulation students who are working at reading level, we used Articulation for Reading and Conversation: by Nicole Allison. I had students highlighting the text on the computer and reading from an iPad. Meanwhile, I was taking data on their progress!

~Mother's Day is this weekend!  We worked on a Mother's Day describing activity and a coupon activity which is a FREEBIE at my TpT store!  {Click HERE to download for FREE!}. If the students chose the describing activity, we brainstormed adjectives to fill in the sentence, "My mom is ________." and made a list on the whiteboard.  Then, we chose five and wrote them on the flower petals, colored the flowers, and decorated an envelope to put them in.  If they chose the coupon activity, I helped them brainstorm coupon ideas, which would make their moms happy throughout the year {there was also a NO complaining rule when their moms decide to redeem the coupons!}.  Next, we wrote them on the coupons, decorated them, cut them out, and put them in a personalized envelope for them to give their moms this Sunday!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!!!
Another fabulous and FUN week in speech therapy!
